Job Description
Job Title: Senior Support and Systems Engineer
Salary: commensurate with experience
Location: Roseland, NJ
Become a key player in the customer support process. Requires experience writing detailed
software modules in real-world situations, however this is not a development position -- it is a
problem resolution, debugging, and investigation position, as part of Second Response
Customer Engineering (taking escalation from First Response). The need for expert, rapid
diagnosis of problems in our complex Linux system (both hardware and software) will be the
day in/day out responsibility, with sensitivity to customer need, is a necessity.
Description:
This individual will be responsible for verifying the quality of targeted software components
and overall end-to-end system reliability. He/she must quickly become knowledgeable with
existing company products and their inner workings. The position requires a highly motivated
individual with excellent oral and written communication skills who can juggle many tasks
simultaneously.
- Responsibilities include:
- Being sophisticated and reliable enough to map out their own direction in response to both routine and emergency problems.
- Taking ownership of issues.
- Must be a highly motivated, hard-working self-starter.
- Not afraid to work around-the-clock when necessary.
- Experience with nagios and log file analyzers is a plus.
- Exposure to digital media processing and transmission is necessary.
- Web-savvy and html fluent.
- Education or Skills required:
- College Degree (B.S./B.A) in or Computer Science mandatory
- Experience in C, C++, JAVA, Perl, and PHP
- strong Linux background including scripting (BASH)
- complete knowledge of web protocols and procedures
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
